Bernard was the oldest of twelve children (ten sons & two daughters) born to Herman Johan & Agnes Marie (Schmiesing) Imdieke.

On 7 June 1898, Bernard ("Ben") married Mary A. Vorgert in Stearns County, MN; she was age 20, he was 23.

A hardworking family farmer, husband and father to ten (nine of his own plus one he took into his heart), "Ben" died at age 85.
