Roy Woodrow Wheat, 66, a native of Henderson, died last Wednesday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Mr. Wheat, who lived at Nevada, Iowa, was born March 15, 1916 at Henderson. He was employed in road construction and retired from Sundstrand, where he was a repairman for hydro transmissions, in 1980.
He married Opal Moody December 24, 1938 at Henderson. The couple have lived in Iowa since 1955 after moving there from Kansas.
Survivors include his wife of Nevada; a son, Darrell Wheat of Maxwell, Iowa; a daughter, Mary Lee Wheat of Mountain Home; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Annie Tracey Wheat; one brother; and four sisters.
Services were Saturday at the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. Walden Paige officiating. Interment was in Zearing Cemetery at Zearing, Iowa.
Pallbearers include Gene Hedberg, Steve Kix, Henry Larson, Leonard Lampe, Steve Smith, and Dan Sowers.
