Deseret News, Internet Edition, Thursday, June 5 1997. Joyce LaRue Smethurst Stout Gray, passed away June 3, 1997 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born February 16, 1929 in Salt Lake City to Leonard and Donna L. Heath Smethurst. She married John Gray on August 26, 1974. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She served at the Salt Lake Temple and was a member of the D.U.P.The family would like to give a special thanks to her health care nurses, aids, and the S.L.C. Police Dept.

She is survived by her husband, John; children, Claudia (Dale) Tanner, Vickie Stout, Larry Stout, Val (Shelly) Stout, Brian Stout, and many nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pat Melton, Shirley Cunningham.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Steven Ray, one daughter, Christine. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday June 7, 1997, at 12 noon, at the River Chapel LDS Ward, 1145 West 500 So. Friends may call Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 So. Redwood Rd. and one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment: Redwood Memorial Estates.
