Olive was the 4th child of the Reverend Emil C. and Annette (Willis) Venz. She was a 1941 graduate of Gallia Academy and worked for the Navy Yard in Pt. Pleasant during WWII.

She married Loren F. Miller on March 14, 1953 and they moved to Oak Ridge, TN where they had four children. They returned to Gallipolis in 1960 where they raised their family. Olive was a full-time homemaker for many years then was a part-time bookkeeper for Darnbrough’s Department Store and worked as a secretary for Scotten Dillon Tobacco Company for many years.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and several civic organizations, including the Philomathian Club; Bridge Club and the Garden Club. She and Loren were gourmet cooks and shared the gift of hospitality freely with their family and many dear friends. Memories made and stories shared continue to bring smiles to this day from everyone who was blessed to have known them.

Olive was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband, Loren and her siblings, Carl and Jim Venz and Ruth Venz Richards. She is survived by her children; a son and three daughters. She was a loving grandma to 9 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandma to 2 great grandsons. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many.


Beautiful, happy, funny, fun, intelligent, witty, ornery, loving, loved, precious, spoiled, Christian, creative, priceless Mom, Wife, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, Great-Grand Mother; Mother-in-Law, Friend. We will miss you so much but will carry you in our hearts everyday until we see you in paradise!


The world lost a jewel with her passing, but her memory will live on for generations to come.
