A native of Buncombe County he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Sally Merrell Huntley.
He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Joyce Shytle, Joan Pearson, and Marjorie Drake.
He proudly served our country as a veteran in the U.S. Army in WWII.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mildred Whitaker Huntley, sons, Rodney L. Huntley (Elizabeth) of Arden and Jeffrey L. Huntley (Karen) of Arden, brothers, Earl F. Huntley (Helen) of Fletcher, sisters, Mary Lou Williams (Ken) of Fairview and Carolyn Gray of Fletcher, one grandchild, Kendall L. Huntley (Anna) and one great-grandchild, Arden J. Huntley.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 14, at the Tweeds Chapel Cemetery on Cane Creek Road in Fairview with Rev. Roland Whitaker officiating.
