Private, Company I, 5th Virginia Cavalry, CSAMarried Sally/Sallie in 1860. The 1860 Census of Columbus, MS shows them living with the Williams family.; he was listed as a clerk. In the Civil War he enlisted as in the 35th Regt. of MS.Served in Quartermaster's Dept. and from 1862-1865 in Ordinance Dept. He was a Deputy Clerk and later a Clerk of the Probate Court of Lowndes County for several years, probably in the 1870's. In 1880, living two miles from Columbus. FWM listed his and son's occupations as farmers. Sallie's sister, Mary Pickens, brought her children in 1881, after the death of her husband, and lived there while the children were young.
