Columbus, Miss., May 27. – Dr. E.S. Lanier, a prominent citizen of this city, died this morning. He had been ill for many months. Dr. Lanier was born here, and his life being filled with may noble qualities he has left a multitude of sorrowing friends. He was a soldier of the Confederacy who nobly did his duty.
