In Alameda, May 8, Beloved husband of Verlene Kunz Baker of Alameda. Loving father of Kathlene Anne Parten of Alameda, Clifford Stanley Baker of Walnut Creek and Donald Gordon Baker and his wife Mary Joy of Fremont. Beloved grandfather of April Anne and Allison Lynn Parten and John Stanley and Kelly Joy Baker. Brother of the late Myron Stanley Baker. Son of the late Myron Stanley and Frances Adeline Baker. A native of Oakland and a lifetime resident of of Alameda. Aged 69 years. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marine. He graduated from Alameda High School in 1943. He was a retired Alameda Police Officer and a retired fingerprint technician with the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department. A member and former bishop of the Alameda First Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a former stake clerk for the Oakland Stake, former executive secretary of the San Leandro Stake. He and his wife served for 18 months in the LDS Montana Billings Mission. He was former secretary treasurer of the CA division of the International Association for Identification. He served on the board of directors of the International Association for Identification and was one of the earlier Certified Latent Print Examiners. Funeral services were held May 12 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Alameda. Interment Bern Cemetery, Bern, ID. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Alameda County Unit, P.O. Box 12676, Oakland, CA 94604.
