Mrs. S. O. Tannahill Summoned By Death
Mrs. Josephine Krier Tannahill, 53, widow of Samuel O. Tannahill, prominent Lewiston attorney, died at 5 o'clock yesterday morning at her home, 412 Fourth avenue, of a heart ailment. She had been confined to her home several months.
Mrs. Tannahill was born March 17, 1887, at Caledonia, Minn., the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Krier, pioneer of that state. Sh received here elementary and high school education at Caledonia, then taking a course in designing, art and millinery at Minneapolis. She spent several years designing and later engaged in the millinery business 15 years in Minnesota. Her marriage to Mr. Tannahill took place May 6, 1925. He died Dec. 30, 1935. Mrs. Tannahill's hobbies included creating things of art and cultivation of flowers, many of her choice blooms being distributed to persons ill or troubled. Her home was known for its hospitality and she gave generously to those in distress. Since her health began to fail she spent much of hertime reading. Mrs. Tannahill was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic church and a charter member of St. Mary's Junior league.
Survivors include three brothers and four sisters; John P. Krier, Genesee; Henry Krier, Bismark, N.D.; Matthew Krier, Caledonia; Miss Elizabeth Krier and Mrs. William Finley, both of Lewiston; Mrs. A. H. Malerich, Hopkins, Minn., and Mrs. Oscar Gjerdinger, Winger, Minn.
The body is at the Vassar-Rawls funeral home and will be taken to her home tomorrow morning to lie in state until the funeral service at St. Stanislaus church Friday at 9. The Rev. Fr. Michael O'Malley will be celebrant at mass. Burial will be at Normal Hill cemetery. Tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. a rosary service will be held at Mrs. Tannahill's home.
