Louis LaVerne King,66, of 1909 Williams Blvd. SW, died Monday morning in St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Turner Chapel West, with military rites by American Legion Hanford Post 5. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery . Survivors include his wife, Rosalee; two sons, Donald of Keokuk and Mike of Ames; a daughter, Diane Moore of Cedar Rapids; a brother, James of Caledonia, Minn.; and a sister, Mary Lee McNees of Los Altos Hills, Calif. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Angela, Robert and Gene; and daughters-in-law Ana and Patty King. Born on Jan. 12, 1926, in Shellsburg, he married Rosalee Bunce on Oct. 20, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was employed for 41 years by Century Engineering. Mr. King was an assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout troops 20 and 33 and a member of Hawkeye Chapter, American Ex POW. Dr. Richard M. Newhall will officiate. Memorials: St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
