Christ at the age of 12 when the evangelist
Jack Frost was holding a revival in
the Brushy Baptist Church near Piano.
She graduated from Centerville
High School in 1925 and later earned a
Teaching Certificate from Iowa State
Teachers College and a B. A. from Drake
University. She enjoyed her profession
of teaching. She taught country school
at Piano and elementary education in
Anamosa and Centerville for a total of
31 years.
Flossie married Hubert Strandberg
onJune 14, 1933. They made their home
in Centerville, had three daughters,
Zanna, Janan and Linda, and were happily
married for 31 years. In addition to
being a loving mother and homemaker,
Flossie enjoyed reading, writing, sewing,
crocheting, painting and playing
bridge. She wrote and published three
books about her life and one song, "Love
Makes Life Beautiful."
Flossie served as president of
T.T.T., Mothers Club and Delta Kappa
Gamma. She was Worthy Matron and a
Grand Representative of O.E.S.
She was an active member of Drake
Avenue Christian Church in Centerville.
She taught a Sunday School class to
high school boys and girls for 20 years,
produced the Christmas program "White
Gifts for the King" for five years and
was a member of the Christian Women's
Fellowship.
After four years of widowhood,
Flossie married Clarence Jack of
Waucoma. They made their home in
Centerville for 14 years until Mr. Jack's
death. She then married Ivan Anderson
on Sept. 18, 1982 and they made their
home on the south side of the lake in
Storm Lake.
Preceding her in death were her
parents, her first husband, Hubert
Strandberg; her second husband,
Clarence Jack; two brothers, Raymond
and Merritt, and a daughter, Zanna Lee
Caiman.
