Darold "Ozzie" Webster was born on November 8, 1928 in Herman, Nebraska to Chauncey Herbert and Hazel (May) Webster.
He was raised in the Herman area and graduated from Blair High School.
On August 30, 1946 he joined the United States Army and served in Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1947.
On June 6, 1948 he was united in marriage to LaVonne Christensen at First Lutheran Church in Blair.
The couple originally made their home in Omaha until 1952 when he began farming with his father-in-law, and continued to farm until 1971.
In 1972 he purchased the Blair Flour Mill and worked there until his retirement in 1994. After his retirement he continued to work during harvest time, helping many of his farming friends.
Ozzie loved traveling with LaVonne over the years to many locations, especially Hawaii.
Together they were members of a pinochle card club for over 50 years. He enjoyed playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, and socializing with friends over early morning coffee.
Darold "Ozzie" Webster, age 85 of Blair died April 25, 2014 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
He is survived by his children: Bruce (Cindy) Webster of Blair; Mark (Christine) Webster of Blair; Debbie (John) Sullivan of Woodbine, IA; grandchildren: Jodi (Michael) Waters of Eden Prairie, MN; Dr Joel (Wendy) Sullivan DVM of Davenport, IA; Justin Sullivan of Omaha; Dr. Dawn Webster DC of Evanston, IL; Kyle Webster of Lincoln; Cassi Webster of Blair; great-grandchildren; Carter, Maddox and Joley Sullivan, and Bran Waters; brother Neil (Anne) Webster of Bellevue; sisters Phyllis (David) Jensen of Montana and Mardell (Keith) Fink of Blair; in-laws Lyle and Bonnie Christensen.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Monday at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Visitation will be held Sunday, at Campbell Aman Funeral Home, 444 South 17th St., Blair, beginning at 2 pm, with family receiving friends from 6-8 pm and a prayer service at 7 pm. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
