After graduating from high school Kay then attended college and graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. She later became a nursing home administrator working in several different facilities doing what she loved which was showing kindness and compassion to others.
Kay was of the Baptist faith.She was very creative and artistic. Kay enjoyed painting and making jewelry. She was a very good cook. Her children and grandchildren were very important to her. Shopping and going to garage sales were a favorite pasttime. She loved playing her guitar and she sang with the Sweet Adeline Barbershop Chorus when living in the Kansas City area.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Sherry Lucas.
She is survived by her husband John Lucas of the home; daughters Glenda Wheeler of Leesville, LA, Debra McSperitt of Osceola, MO, Melody Greiner and her husband David of Sequin, TX, Cindy Synder of Anaheim, CA; brother Frank Bucklinger and his wife Wanda of Grandview, MO; grandchildren Timothy Settlemeyer, Jennifer Matsko and her husband David, Cristy Settlemeyer, Lewis Thomas and his wife Jeanna, J.R. Lucas, Becky Lucas, Cody Chiles and his wife Stephanie,Steven McSperitt and his wife Stephanie, Kressie McSperitt and Dustin Greiner; 30 great-grandchildren.
Gravesite memorial services for Kay Lucas will be held at 1 PM Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Resthaven Cemetery near Osceola, MO.
