Son of William Quiner, Jr. and Sarah (Barker) Quiner. Likely father of Henry Newton Quiner and thus great-grandfather of Laura Elizabeth (Ingalls) Wilder, author of the "Little House" series of children's books. He married Margaret S. Dorr on 9 April 1797 in New Haven, Connecticut. They had at least 11 children between 1798 and 1817. Four of their younger children left Connecticut, eventually settling in Wisconsin Territory after stops in Ohio and Indiana.
