Her father must have died before 1880 because Ida and two of her brothers appear in the 1880 Oden County, Arkansas census only with their mother, Sarah.
By 1890, This family had moved to Texas. Ida married William N. Finley (1859-1891) on May 3, 1891 in Mansfield, Tarrant, Texas, and on June 16, less than two months later, William killed himself. Ida gave birth to his daughter, Willie N. Finley, in Mansfield on February 18, 1892, but Willie died just two weeks later.
On July 29, 1894, the young widow, Ida, married George Clifton Sharp (1859-1930), a son of William Washington Sharp (1828-1863) and Susan Scruggs Finch (1832-1882).
George and Ida had five children, all born in Mansfield:
