Mary Shannon, 89, longtime resident of Anita, died Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the Anita Colonial Manor in Anita, Iowa. She was born March 4, 1915, the daughter of Henry and Ada (Mallory) Karns and grew up in Anita. Mary was married to Maurice Shannon on May 25, 1935 in Missouri Valley, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gail Kirk. They farmed most of their life in Lincoln Township south of Anita until 1959. The couple then moved into the home of the late Henry Shannon at 501 3rd St. in Anita in 1961. She was a member of the Christian Church in Anita and the VFW.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ada Karns; her husband Maurice; 6 brothers Howard, Max, Paul, Garland, George and Anson and 5 sisters Mrs. Richard "Mae" Watson, Mrs. Clyde "Clara" MrcPherron, Mrs. Pete "Marie" Vernon, Mrs. Donald "Geniveve" Hall and Mrs. Herman "Drusilla" (Madren") Masey
