Mary Elizabeth DeBow Harris MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Mary Elizabeth DeBow Harris, 86, Madisonville, KY, died at 5:45 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Ridgewood Terrace in Madisonville.
She was born on May 13, 1922 in Madisonville, Ky. to James William DeBow and Dessie Almeta Adcock DeBow. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville. She was in the Gaddis Sunday School Class. She was a housewife and loved cooking and loved her family, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by husband, Frank Harris, August 4, 2007, one daughter, Lisa Harris Berry, January 31, 2005, (husband, Daniel Berry of Morganfield, Ky.), and by four brothers, Roy Bryant DeBow, 1957, James J. DeBow, 1920, Herchel Franklin DeBow, 1945, William Isaac (Billy) DeBow, 1983, three sisters, Ethel LeVera (Vera) DeBow Brown, 1986, Vivian Mae DeBow Jones, 2001, Margaret Louise (Tootsie) DeBow Ligon, 2000. She is also preceded in death by three half –brothers, Gaspard Noel DeBow, 1969, Lee Roy DeBow, 1970, and Houston DeBow, 1925.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James Ray (Jimmy) Harris, wife, Sharon Harris, Madisonville, two grandchildren, Chris Harris, Madisonville and Charlene Harris, White Bluff, Tn., one nephew, Larry Ligon, Fairfield, Ill, and two nieces, Sherry Carlisle and Teresa Ligon Marks both of Madisonville. She had several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday. Funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville. Service will be conducted by Dr. Joe Leonard. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. Pallbearers will be Chris Harris, Larry Ligon, Robert Grant, Melvin Carlisle, Donnie Ezell and Ray Moore.
