Mr. Althouse was born in Bryn Mawr and reared in Malvern. For the last four years, he lived in Ocean City, N.J., and was employed by Shieldalloy Metallurgical Corp. in Newfield, N.J., as a materials engineer specializing in metals and plastics.
Prior to joining Shieldalloy, he had lived in Braintree, Mass., where he worked for another metal alloy producer.
Mr. Althouse graduated from Great Valley High School in 1980 and from Drexel University in 1985. He attended Drexel on three scholarships and earned a degree in materials engineering.
He was a member of Alpha Pi Mu, a national honor society, and enjoyed hunting and sports. He traveled extensively for his employers.
He is survived by his parents, Charles E. Althouse Jr. and Patricia Robinson Althouse; a brother, Wayne A.; his maternal grandparents, Chrissy and Charles Althouse Sr., and his paternal grandfather, Thomas B. Robinson.
A funeral service was held Nov. 24 at Mauger/Givnish Funeral Home in Malvern. Burial was in Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer.
