Son of the great dramatist Friedrich von Schiller. He studied forestry in Heidelberg and Jena and was hired by the Württemberg Forest Service in 1817. King Friedrich von Württemberg regarded it an honor to have the son of the great writer in his service and awarded him the status of Freiherr (baron) in 1845. He and wife Friederike Luise Locher had one son.
