He served in the US Army.
Robert married Catherine Dunlap, and they became the parents of a son and three daughters.
He worked as a millwright for Vulcan Mold until retirement.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, a former council member for Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and a life member of Kingston Club.
Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as playing with his grandchildren.
At the age of 77, Robert A. Shaw Sr., of Latrobe, Unity Township, died Thursday, April 24, 2014, at home.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ellen Thomas and Margaret Gratzinger; two brothers, James D. Shaw and Donald A. Shaw; and a faithful companion of 19 years, Buddy.
He was survived by his wife of 54 years, Catherine M. "Kay" (Dunlap) Shaw; four children, Robert A. Shaw Jr. (Deborah), Marlene A. Wasnesky (Matthew), Deborah Rose (William) and Beth Ann Hamerski (James); 11 grandchildren, B.J. (Robyn), Christi (Tim), Megan, Kayla, Michael, Andrew, Chelsey, Carly, Nicholas, Connor and Lex; one great-grandchild, Avery; a brother, William Shaw; a sister-in-law, Darly Shaw; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
