Robert Armstrong was born near Petersburg, Illinois September 28, 1852 and died at the home of his daughter north of Winterset June 16, 1906 being nearly 54 years of age. He was married October 3, 1872 to Martha Wilcox to which union one child was born, Mrs. A. J. Smith, where Mr. Armstrong spent his last days. He moved to Madison County in 1873 and he has made his home there and Polk County ever since. The funeral services were held at the home of his daughter on Monday, conducted by Rev. Matheney under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge of which he was a member. Mr. Armstrong was well known and highly respected in this community and the bereaved wife and daughter have the sympathy of the entire community.
