Katherine 'Katina' S. Kouvarakis, age 82* years, expired Satudrday, May 27, 1967 at 4 a.m. at Howard memorial Hospital at Biloxi, Mississippi where she had been a patient for the past five days.

*SSDI has her birth date as July 20, 1882, not 1885!

The widow of Steve Kouvarakis, Katharine resided at 409 St. John Avenue,Biloxi, with Sophie Lucas, her daughter. A resident of Biloxi for the past 21 years, she was born at St. John the Baptist, Patmos Island, Greece, and had arrived in America in 1910. Mrs. Kouvarakis had been in ill health for three years.

Katina was survived by two sons, Gus Stevens (1911-1998), Gulfport, and Teddy Stevens of Mobile; two daughters, Irene Safaelos of Houston, Texas, and Sophie Lucas (1912-1991) of Biloxi; eight grandchildren; and seven great grand-children.

Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home of Biloxi directed the funeral service of Mrs. Kouvarakis with the Very Reverend Williams G. Gains of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Greek Orthodox Church at NOLA, officiating at the Church of the Redeemer in Biloxi. Reverend Michael Margitich, Greek Orthodox Chaplain at Keesler AFB, held a prayer service for Mrs. Kouvarkis.
