CHICOPEE – Constance J. "Connie" (Barthelette) Gauthier, 88, of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Good Friday, April 18, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on September 14, 1925, a beloved daughter of the late Arthur J. and Alexina A. (Loiselle) Barthelette. She was raised in Holyoke and moved to Chicopee around 1971. Connie was employed as a waitress for the former Valle's Steak House in Springfield and Chateau Provost in Chicopee. Connie was a vibrant woman who enjoyed the simple things in life. She was an avid card player and for the past 13 years, ran a regular bus trip to the Foxwood Casino. She was a member of the Chicopee Council on Aging and the Fairview Golden Age Club. She was also a longtime volunteer at the Fairview Knights of Columbus Council 4044 monthly spaghetti supper. Active in her faith, she was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Donald J. Gauthier who was Called Home on January 18, 1995. They were married on September 29, 1972 at the former Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in Willimansett and were blessed with 22 years of happiness together. She leaves her loving brother, Rene W. Barthelette, Sr. and his wife, Lucille, of South Hadley; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended members of the Gauthier and Barthelette families. In addition, Connie leaves many dear friends including David and Estelle Lee and Lorraine Tatsch. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by 11 dear brothers and sisters. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, April 23, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery, 292 Hampden Street, Chicopee, MA 01013.
