Nute Odle, longtime Cushing resident, passed away early Saturday morning, April 14, 2018 in Cushing at the age of 87 years.
The son of the late Dee Odle and Myrtle Kenyon Odle, Nute was born on May 28, 1930 in Oilton, Oklahoma. He was raised and educated in Oilton and Silver City.
He was united in marriage to his first and only love, Norma Blaylock on June 8, 1950 in Oilton and to this union three children, Allen, Sheila and Amelia were born. Norma preceded him in death on November 5, 2013.
Nute worked in the oilfield most of his life and for several years was part owner of Lease Service. Following his retirement Norma told him he had to find a part-time job to keep him busy and out of the house, so he mowed yards for people and sold and repaired washer and dryers, which he enjoyed very much. He was a people person, loving to talk to people and tinker with things outside. He enjoyed watching TV, especially scary movies and westerns.
Nute is survived by his children, Allen Odle and his wife Teresa of Cushing, Sheila Leverich and her husband Joe of Cushing and Amelia Kerby and her husband Raymond of Hennessey; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the River of Life Christian Center in Drumright with Pastor Kevin Vogele officiating.
Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery at Oilton.
