Benoni "Benony" Blodget, son of Thomas and Mary (Parkis/Parkhurst*) Blodget was born 22 October 1694 in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.

Benoni's great grandfather, Thomas Blodget, born 1605 in England, was the emigrant ancestor of the Blodgett family of America, sailed from London on the "Increase", 18 April 1635. The family, which made this voyage, consisted of Thomas Blodget, "glover", aged 30; his wife Susan, aged 37; son Daniel, aged 4, and son, Samuel, aged 1.5 years. The family settled in Newtowne (now Cambridge), MA, and Thomas was one of the original members of Rev. Thomas Shepard's company which founded the first church in Cambridge. He was made a freeman in 1636, and received a grant of land. They had a daughter, Susanna, born June 1637 in Cambridge, MA and a son Thomas who died as an infant on 7 August 1639. Thomas died in 1642, aged about 37. His widow, Susan, married a second time, on 15 February 1643-4 James Thompson of Woburn, MA.

Benoni's grandfather, Daniel Blodget, born 1631 in England, was 4 years old when he arrived in America with his father Thomas, mother Susan and baby brother Samuel. On 15 September 1653, Daniel married Mary Butterfield, daughter of Benjamin and Ann Butterfield of Woburn and Chelmsford, MA. He moved from Cambridge to Chelmsford, and there his children were born. His wife, Mary, mother of their seven children (Thomas, Anna, Daniel, Benjamin, Jonathan, Samuel and Nathaniel), died 5 September 1666, about aged 33. Daniel married, second, 10 March 1669, Sarah Underwood, who was the mother of his two sons (Nathaniel and William). Daniel died 28 January 1672, at age 40.

Benoni's father, Thomas Blodget, was born 25 June 1654 in Chelmsford, MA. On 29 June 1682, he married Mary Parkis/Parkhurst, daughter of Joseph and Rebecca Parkis/Parkhurst.

Benoni had seven siblings, all born in Chelmsford, MA:
i. Rebeckah, born 12 April 1684
ii. Thomas born 1686, married Tabitha Blanchard.
iii. Joseph, born 10 October 1659, married Dorothy Perham.

His mother, Mary died 18 days after his birth on 9 November 1694. His father married Mary Druse and had four children (Benoni's siblings):
iv. John, born 26 November 1698, married Abigail Blanchard.
v. Samuel, born 27 September 1702
vi. Mary, born 4 January 1706
vii. Anne, born 9 May 1714.

Benoni married Rebecca Booth**, daughter of William and Hannah (Burroughs) Booth, and had nine children, all born in Enfield, CT (at the time of their birth Enfield was a part of MA):
1. Elijah, born 26 November 1719, married Hannah Corning, had three daughters: Hannah married Capt Hezekiah Bissell; Susannah married Levi Fish and Rebecca married Benjamin Fish.
2. Rebecca, born 13 April 1722.
3. Josiah, born 28 July 1724, married Abigail Rood, had six children: Roswill married Hannah Bartlett; Josiah married Rachel Crane; Phineas married Damaris Loomis; Abigail married Silas Munsell; Amy married Daniel Porter; and Elijah married Tryphena Osborn.
4. Job, born 10 July 1730.
5. Ebenezer, born 1 April 1733, married Ann Barber.
6. David, born 14 April 1735, married Jerusha Dickinson.
7. Abner, born 29 July 1737, married Rachel Phelps.
8. Hannah, born 23 May 1740
9. Anna

Benoni died on 4 February 1773, at age 78 and was buried in Scantic Cemetery.
