He entered the US Marine Corps at age 18 and worked as a parachute rigger from 1943-1945, using the GI Bill to educate himself in several English-speaking countries including Australia, Ireland and Canada. He met and married his wife, Ann, in 1972 and moved to Whitefish, Montana and bought Allen's Motel. John continued to pursue property investments over the course of 40 years.
John was a loving father and husband, who committed every day of his life to God. He was a faithful member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, loved to take long nature walks and appreciated life to the fullest.
John has one remaining sister and is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He will live on in the hearts of his wife, five children (Christine, John, Mary, Patrick and Monica) and six grandchildren.
