Mrs. Gertrude Whitham, who had been in failing health a number of years and had been a resident of Tecumseh Care Center for about five years, died there Thursday, Aug. 26, 1976, at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 28 days.

A daughter of Martin McAuliffe and his wife, Margaret Costello McAuliffe, she was born at Smartville, Nebr., on Nov. 28, 1905. She was married to Everett Whitham of Cook, and for years they lived on a farm near Cook. Mrs. Whitham taught school for many years.

Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Whitham and all survive their parents. Mr. Whitham died about 12 years ago.

Mrs. Whitham was a woman who had many friends, and until stricken with her illness she was interested in, and took part in community affairs. She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic church in Tecumseh.

Services were held there Monday morning, Aug. 30, by Msgr. Adam J. Szmydt.

Burial was in St. Andrews cemetery.
