George Collier went to be with the Lord Monday, April 14, 2014. George was born September 28, 1922, in Marland, OK to Edgar V. and Lottie Collier.
After graduating as valedictorian from Ramona High School, he moved to Oklahoma City, later working in Connecticut for General Motors and in Richmond, CA at the Kaiser shipyard.
After the start of World War II, George joined the Navy, received an honorable discharge and returned to Oklahoma City and began work as a supervisor at Douglas Aircraft. George traveled extensively while working for Douglas until the end of the war, when he went to work for the War Asset Commission until 1946, after which he worked as an independent landman in the oil and gas industry until 2000.
George was a longtime member of the Northwest Baptist Church, where he held many positions. He loved his church and will be best remembered for his many years as an usher and helping in the Spanish department on Wednesday nights.
George enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren and traveling with wife Frankie through many countries in Europe.
George was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Frankie Jane LaField Collier; son, George Collier Jr. and his wife Susan, of Tulsa; daughter, Martha Jane and husband Randy Battle, of Oklahoma City; and four grandchildren, Kimberly Jane and husband Jason Paxton, their three children, Nova, Azure, and Ryder, of San Diego; Jennifer Ann Battle, of Oklahoma City; Katherine Joan Collier and husband Chris Brune, their daughter, Collier Elizabeth, of Edmond; and William George Collier, of Tulsa.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 28, 2 p.m. at Northwest Baptist Church, 3030 NW 23rd Street in Oklahoma City.
