He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, and 10 a.m. until religious services in the chapel at 1 p.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Bruce Efferson. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by a daughter, Nona E. Hoover, Baton Rouge; a son and daughter-in-law, Chip and Kathleen Efferson, Ethel; two sisters, Johnnie Hickman, Baton Rouge, and Nita Carney, Austin, Texas; a brother, Elwood Efferson, Hammond; a grandson, Todd Hoover, who was like a son to him; 12 grandchildren, Denny and Kary Efferson, Mallory Davis, Rose Hogue, Maggie Dawson, John Dan Efferson, Emma Davis, Ronald Chad Pourciau, Dana Dawson, Chester Parish, Kathleen Waldron and Laurie Olinde; and 20 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife,Myrtis Watts Efferson; two daughters, Anice Parish and Marlene Efferson; and two grandsons, Lane Carter and Barry Wayne Efferson.
