Alfred L. (Al) Paulen, 67, 317 N. Dewey St.. Auburn,. died Tuesday at 8:20 p.m . in DeKalb Memorial Hospital. He had been a patient there 12 days and had been in ill health for one year.

Born May 18, 1916, five miles southeast of Auburn, Mr. Paulen was the son of Elmer and Minnie (Motzfelt) Paulen. On May18, 1938 in Hicksville, Ohio, he married Thelma (Hartranft), who survives.

He. was a retired employee of the Grabill Cabinet Company and a carrier for the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel.

Mr. Paulen is also survived by one daughter, Mrs. Don (Janice) Kessler of Auburn; two brothers, Robert Paulen of Auburn and Dean Paulen of Fort Wayne; one sister, Mrs. Dale (Helen) Grogg of Auburn; and one granddaughter.

Services will be in the Dilgard, Cline & Southern Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Roselawn cemetery .
