Marianne (Atkins) Heasley, 84, of Butler passed away at 12:03 a.m. Thursday at Allegheny General Hospital.
She was born Nov. 17, 1929, in Las Vegas, N.M., to the late Albert John Atkins Sr. and Mary Fuell (Hayes) Best Atkins.
Marianne was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
She attended First United Methodist Church and was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church in Butler, where she was previously involved in the choir. Marianne was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, the PWA of Las Vegas Assembly in New Mexico, and the PMA of Meridian Assembly in Butler. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in New Mexico and the Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem in Butler.
Marianne attended the VA Adult Day Health Care and was involved with the Butler Blind Association and the Butler Blind Support Group. She enjoyed spoiling the grandkids and great-grandkids, woodworking and stamp collecting.
Marianne is survived by her daughter, Jeanna M. Hunt and her husband, Rob, of Butler; her two sons, Albert S. Heasley of Evans City, and Richard A. Heasley and his wife, Tammie, of Butler; her 11 grandchildren, Becky Hunt, Kati Cole and her husband, Matt, Rachel Hunt, Kevin Hunt, Chris Heasley, Ashley Heasley, Kari Pizer, Jennifer Swigart and her husband, Mike, Ricky Heasley, Kristen Heasley, and Jordan Heasley; six great-grandchildren, Draven Hunt, Keegan Hunt, Taylor Cole, Alexis Cole, Corri Cole, and Brycen Weston; her brother, Albert John Atkins Jr. and his wife, Dora of Taos, N.M., and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, James Best and Richard Atkins.
Heasley- The friends of Marianne (Atkins) Heasley, who passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Patricia Nelson of First United Methodist Church officiating.
Immediately following the funeral, officers and members of the American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora and the VFW Post 249 will conduct military honors at the funeral home. Private burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
