Evie Evon (Holland) Bowen, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, and formerly of Wilson, NC, died Thursday, December 29, 2005 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born November 8, 1917 in Stokesdale, NC, she was the daughter of the late Wiley Gray and Lettie (Neal) Holland.

She was a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church, Wilson, NC.

Survivors include her husband, Jobe Harrison Bowen; two sons, Turl Bowen and his wife Vivian of Charlotte, NC and Jerry Bowen of Wilson, NC; a daughter, Kathy Bowen of Spartanburg; a brother, Gordon Holland of Stokesdale, NC; three grandchildren, Jennifer Evans of Charlotte, NC, Beverly Smith of Marion, NC, and David Bowen of Phoenix AZ; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 31, 2005 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely.

Visitation followed the service at the chapel.

Committal services were held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, January 2, 2006, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Wilson, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to The Salvation Army, P.O. Drawer 2909, Spartanburg, SC 29304; or to Forest Hills Baptist Church, 1407 Forest Hills Road, Wilson, NC 27893.
