Henry Clay Hensley was born in Platte County, Missouri on 3 December 1861 to Jonathan Hensley and Lucinda Tomlin Hensley, both of Kentucky. He married Francis Boyles/Briles and with her had at least four children: Goldie D., Archie, Clifford and Franklin Clay. He passed away on 23 July 1936 in Gallatin, Clay County, Missouri at the age of 74 due to a stroke.
