She was born Adaline Mackaman April 19, 1914, the daughter of Clun and Alpha Tuttle Mackaman. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1932 and then worked as a secretary for A.H.E Mathews, Iowa Adjustment Company.
On Feb. 21, 1936, she married Lynn Jefferson Elsberry in Marshalltown. They moved to Clemons in 1939. She worked for E.T. Van Metre Income Tax Agency for 15 years and was also treasurer of the town of Clemons.
She loved working with children and for 20 years taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for the Clemons United Christian Church. She was also, for several years, the church's secretary, Iowa Pilgrim Fellowship Youth Sponsor, and chaired the Women's Fellowship.
The Elsberrys moved back to Marshalltown in 1972 where they joined Central Christian Church and Adaline was the office manager of Elsberry Oldsmobile. She later worked until retirement for the law firm of Kcmler, Lovig and Bartine.
She was a 50 year member of the Clemons Progress Club, member of the Y Bible Study and regularly attended the Christian Women's Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Henry. She is survived by her husband; two sons, the Rev. Terence L. Elsberry, rector of St. Mathews Church of Bedford, New York and James, I. Elsberry, Greeley Tribune, Greeley, Colo.; her daughters-in-law Nancy and Nicki Elsberry; granddaughters Anne Warring-
ton of Cherry Point, N.C.; Elizabeth Meacham of Cleveland, Ohio; Gretchen Larkin of Needham, Mass. and Holly Brown of Ridgeford, Con. and four great-granddaughters, Maisie, Madeline, Lucy and Isabelle.
