Anna was an allied member of John and Betty More's Jean line. She was the daughter of Nelson D. McNitt and Margaret Trewitt Elliott McNitt. Anna was raised at Norwich, New York where her father was a farmer. The family relocated to Oxford, New York about 1865 and to Morris, New York about 1875 where her father was the owner and operator of a farm. Anna married to Nelson James Allaben, Jr. on 24 October 1883. They made their home first at Morris. After her husband died in 1889, she relocated to Morristown, New Jersey where she was a physician. Anna and Nelson were the parents of one child, Nelson James Allaben.
