Raymond Louis Broeker, 84, of 19915 State Road 8, Culver, died Monday, Nov. 28 in his home after being in declining health the past four months.

He was born Dec. 4, 1920 in Donaldson to the late Herman and Elizabeth Steir Broeker. He was a graduate of the West High School class of 1939. One sister, Helen Brockmann, and two brothers, Clarence and Charles Broeker preceded him in death.

He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed traveling, fishing and gardening as hobbies. He was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Culver, and held various duties in the church such as serving on the building committee and church trustee. He served as a 4-H leader for more than 25 years and was a director for Marshall Farmers Mutual Insurance Company for 22 years.

He was married on June 4, 1949 at Calvary Lutheran Church, Plymouth to Annemarie Urlaub, who survives. Other survivors include three children: Robert (Lois) and Elaine (James) Frosch of Culver and Susan Broeker of Scottsdale, Ariz. and two grandchildren: Laura Silvers of Cypress,
Texas and Adam Broeker of Culver. A sister, Mabel (Wes) Kirkpatrick of Plymouth survives as do two sisters-in-law: Dorothy (Clarence) Broeker and Jane (Charles) Broeker. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Culver at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 with Pastor Gerhardt Hallman officiating. Visitation for friends and family will be Wednesday, Nov. 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bonine-Odom Funeral Home, Culver. Interment will take place at Burr Oak Cemetery, Burr Oak. Contributions can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in memory of Raymond Broeker.
