one of the early settlers of Dorchester.
He came to New England about 1633, and died
Nov. 24, 1679; aged 67 years. His descendants,
to whom he left the best of all patrimony,
the example of a benevolent --

life;
erect this stone to his memory 170 years
after his decease.
His Piety,
His constancy in virtue and truth,
These on traditions tongue shall life; these shall
From Sire to Son be handed down
To latest time.
