Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM on Monday April 21, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls with burial in the Larchwood Cemetery in Larchwood, IA. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM on Sunday at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls with the family present to greet friends from 5 to 7 PM.
Edna Mae Hartman was born on May 24, 1928 in rural Larchwood, Iowa to Grover and Adaline (Viereck) Hartman. She received her education there graduating from Larchwood High School in 1946. On December 15, 1946 Edna was united in marriage with Ronald H. Scott. The couple made their home in Valley Springs, SD and was blessed with four children. The couple moved to Sioux Falls in 1990.
Edna was a member of Ben Clare Methodist Church for 45 years and is currently a member of First United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls. She is also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Edna is a former member of the Minnehaha County Extension Club and the Sioux Falls Corvette Club.
Edna was a gifted artist; especially working with oil paintings and stain glass. She took great pride in her home and was presented with the Honored Homemaker Award by the Minnehaha County Extension Club. She also taught 4-H for over 19 years and enjoyed volunteering at Sioux Valley (now Sanford) and Avera McKennan Hospital for many years.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Ron Scott, Sioux Falls, SD; four children, Carol Scott, Lincoln, NE, Vernon (Diane) Scott, Gladstone, MO, Rodney (Dianne) Scott, Lincoln, NE, and Milo (Peggy) Scott, Monument, CO; eight grandchildren, Michael (Kari) Emerson, Sherry (Dwayne) Paczosa, Stacy (Bill) Swearingen, Cody (Sara) Scott, Melissa (Dirk) Hood, Andrew (Megan) Scott, Jonathan Scott and Joshua Scott; six great-grandchildren, Hayden, Ethan, Travis, Austin, Makayla and Jackson; two sisters, Mildred Heyer-Shafer, Santa Rosa, CA and Gladys Kinney, Selah, WA; and special friend, Joyce Patterson, Sioux Falls, SD.
Edna is preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Adaline Hartman; and one sister, Alice Beuchens.
