ROCKINGHAM — Lynn Wallace Thayer, 76, of Brockway Mills Road in Rockingham, died Monday, April 7, 2014, at Springfield Hospital. He was born May 15, 1937, in Irasburg, Vt., the son of Harry and Lottie Elliot Thayer. He was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1955 and attended the vocational training program to become a machinist. On July 3, 1957, he married Alice Buskey. He worked for Bryant Grinder, Fellows Gear Shaper and retired from Omega Optical in Brattleboro, Vt., in 2004.

He was active in the Bellows Falls Senior Center, enjoyed playing cribbage and working with and collecting hit-and-miss engines.

He is survived by his two sons, Harry and his wife, Cynthia, of Springfield and Richard and his wife, Tina, of Rockingham; one daughter, Diane Thayer of Rockingham; one brother, Aldis Thayer of Chester; one sister-in-law, Theresa Thayer of North Brookfield, Mass.; three granddaughters and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Alice; and his brother, Lawrence.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls. There are no calling hours. Please join the family for a reception at the Bartonsville Grange immediately after the service.
