DEATH OF ARTHUR HINMAN

Well Known Valley Farmer in Portland for Operation

Arthur Hinman, who for over thirty years has been following the occupation of a farmer in the Lewiston district, and who, in recent years, while maintaining a home at Ninth Street and Ninth Avenue in Lewiston, operated orchards tracts in Lewiston Orchards, died at noon yesterday at a hospital in Portland. He had undergone an operation on Saturday, following one a month ago when he went to Portland for treatment.

While his illness was considered serious, faith had been held that the operation would effect a cure and so his passing away is a shock to the family and friends.

His son, Earl, a graduate of the University of Washington, went to Portland when it was found an operation would be performed and was at the bedside when death came. Chester, another son, is with Mrs. Hinman here. Mrs. Guy Richards of Lewiston his niece.

Mr. Hinman had a wide circle of friends and was well known to horticulturists in the valley. He developed a fine orchard on the Clearwater River a number of years ago and later sold it to Nez Perce County as a part of the county home property.

The body will be brought to Lewiston and funeral plans will be announced later.
