Pioneer Jacob Smith Passes In Orchards
Jacob Smith, 79, a resident of Lewiston Orchards for 20 years, died at 11:40 p.m. yesterday at St. Joseph's hospital. Death was attributed to cancer.
Mr. Smith was born May 27, 1870, in Broom county, New York. He came west in 1878 and moved to Reubens from Salem, Ore., in 1897. He farmed for several years at Lapwai.
His first wife, Corrie Cunningham Smith, died in 1934. In 1945 he was married to Pearl Pollard, who survives him.
