Beatrice Elizabeth Flota, 95, of Jacksonville, Fla., and formerly of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Feb. 16, 2016, at her home in Jacksonville, Fla. Beatrice was born on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 1920, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of the late Jesse Alfred and Sarah Ida (Patoma) Skinner. She married Howard Flota on Nov. 23, 1939, in Mt. Vernon, and they just celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary. Surviving family members include her husband, Howard S. Flota of Jacksonville, Fla.; twins, daughter, Ida Sue Robinson and husband Ronald of Jacksonville, Fla., and son, Bobby Flota of Lake Wales, Fla.; grandson, Scott Flota and wife Tracy of Mt. Vernon; granddaughter, Stephanie Post and husband Mike of Newburgh, Ind.; granddaughter, Teresa Hahn and husband Karl of Mt. Vernon; granddaughter, Susan Everage and husband Ricky of Bethalto; grandson, Rob Robinson and wife Celeste of Mt. Vernon; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Beatrice was preceded in death by brother, Vance Skinner of Mt. Vernon and sister, Flosse May Skinner of Mt. Vernon. Beatrice had many accomplishments in her life, such as being a pastor’s wife for 60+ years, church pianist/organist, cake baker/decorator, seamstress and quilter. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Pastor Tom Skinner officiating. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Free Will Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Shriners Hospital for Children
