ADAMS, JOHN QUINCY - age 87, a resident of the Oak Ridge and Claxton community passed on unto our Lord on Thursday, May 13, at the Lake City Health Care Center. He was born October 23, 1916 in Pearson, Georgia. John and his wife Becky moved to Oak Ridge in the early forties and he was employed at the K25 Plant for twenty-five years as a welder. He and his family moved to a new residence on the Clinton highway and operated The Pig Trail Inn. They were well-known in the area for their famous barbecue. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Elizabeth (Becky) Corbitt Adams, parents: mother, Mary Jane Giddens Adams, and father, Homer Columbus Adams, a brother, Chester Adams, and sisters, Grace Vickers and Jennie Nichols. He is survived by three sons: Jack Adams and wife Patsy William (Billy) Adams and wife Alice J.O. Adams and wife Sally nine grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren sisters Dorothy Lauermore, and Sue Nell Perry. The family conveys their heartfelt appreciation to those at the Lake City Health Care. They went far beyond their duties to be a family to him. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday with services to follow at 8 PM at the Woodhaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Edgemoor Road. The Rev. Charles Northrup will be officiating. Special singers: Freda Rose, Glenna Pack, Carolyn Northrup, and Alicia Pack. Entombment will be held Sunday at 3 PM. Pallbearers will be: A.C. Noe, Ricky Adkins, Mark Adams, Rodney Brock, Daniel Adams, Terry Neal and Brandon Neal. Woodhaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens is in charge of arrangements.
