Roger Dale Earley, age 70, a beloved husband, daddy and brother, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014.

Mr. Earley was born November 19, 1943 in Haywood County to the late Reverend Frank Earley and the late Lura Belle Wells Earley. He was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and was a United States Air Force Veteran, having honorably served in Vietnam and was a member of VFW Canton Post 5198. To honor his fellow veterans Roger could often be found helping with the mowing maintenance of the military section at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery and placing US flags to honor the military service of deceased veterans. He also enjoyed military history and was a Civil War enthusiast.


Roger was a former employee of American Enka Corporation for 23 years and was also employed with Champion International and Blue Ridge Paper for 30 dedicated years. He was a devoted member of Beulah Baptist Church in Canton and had served as a member of Beulah Baptist Brotherhood and Firewood Ministry Crew. Roger truly had a kind and caring heart and he loved all animals, especially caring for birds and squirrels. He was also a racing fan and was a member of Earley Electric Racing Team. Roger loved his family deeply and his precious daughter was indeed his pride and joy. Everyone blessed to know Roger Dale loved him and he will be deeply missed by all of his family and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Earley, Martha Earley, Zelda Adams, Frankie Gooch and a brother, Roy Earley.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 21 years, Barbara Benfield Earley of Canton; his daughter, Sasha Reece and her husband, Matthew Reece of Maggie Valley; brothers, David "Bud" Earley and his wife, Connie Earley of SC, Danny Earley and his wife, Judy Earley of Canton; brothers-in- law, Ruben Adams of Canton and Tommy Gooch of Clyde; a sister- in-law, Hazel Earley of SC.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Beulah Baptist Church with Pastor Barry Clark officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road.
