A. G. Gantt, one of the most prominent and best known citizens of the Bessemer City section of the county, died at his home near Bessemer City at 4 o'clock Monday morning, age 82 years.

Funeral services were conducted at the home at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon and were in charge of Dr. H. C. Sprinkle, pastor of Central Methodist church of Kings Mountain, NC. Burial took place in the cemetery of Long Creek Presbyterian Church, not far from the Gantt home.

Surviving Mr. Gantt are three sons and three daughters. These are (Rufus) Columbus Gantt, John Gantt, Mac (William McKinley) Gantt - all of Kings Mountain, NC, Mrs. Ben Smith of Kings Mountain, NC, Mrs. D. F.Weir of Hampstead, NC, and Mrs. Myrtle Smith of Wilmington, NC. Mr. Gantt's wife who was before her marriage, Miss Diana Clark, died about seven years ago.

Occupation: magistrate, justice of the peace, farmer
