On June 7, 1900, Fred, age 6, lived in Township 28, Peoria Nation, Indian Territory with his parents, Manord N. & Martha A., ages 34 & 29, & siblings: Carra F., age 11; John W., 9; Claud, 2; & Charley, 5 months.

His parents had been married 12 years, & his mother had given birth to 5 children, all of whom were living. His father, a farmer, was renting a farm.

On April 18/19, 1910, Fred, age 15, lived with his parents, Maynard & Martha, ages 43 & 40, in Peoria, Ottawa Co, OK where they rented a farm. His father was born in TN; his mother in MO. They had been married 23 years; his mother had given birth to 10 children, but only 7 survived. His siblings living at home: John, age 18; Charles, 10; Alva, 5; George, 3; & Mabel, 1. John & Fred were old enough to be a big help on the farm.

Fred, age 20, married Katie Quapaw, age 16, in Ottawa Co, OK on Jan. 16, 1915.

Their children were:

On June 15, 1917, Fred, Katie, & their two children lived in Commerce where he worked for a mining company in Tar River, OK. He was described as having blue eyes & brown hair, medium build & height. His record indicates that he was born in Vinita, OK on Nov. 16, 1894.

Katie died at the Claremore Hospital on Friday, May 16, 1943.

Fred's obituary was published in the Miami News-Record on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1980.
"Fred Beets Dies Monday
Quapaw - Fred Charles Beets, 85, Quapaw, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Miami Baptist Hospital Monday morning following an illness.

Born Nov. 16, 1894, east of Quapaw, Mr. Beets was a lifetime area resident and a retired miner.

Survivors include two sons, Harold Betts, Quapaw Route 1, and Leroy Betts, Tulsa; two daughters, Mrs. Maygie Clifford and Mrs. Pauline Dealton, both of Wyandotte, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, Picher.

Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery southeast of Quapaw. The family will receive visitors from 7 to 3 tonight at the funeral home."
