Henry Alexander (of Northfield, Mass) filed an "intent to marry" Nancy Beamis (of Royalston, Mass) on 12 Jan 1812.

Their youngest daughter's death record states her mother's name was Anna E. Bemis. Her death record lists Mrs Alexander as "Mrs Nancy B. Alexander, daughter of Jonas & Catherine Tower, born in Winchendon, Mass.".

Boston Evening Transcription, Boston, Massachusetts, 30 Jan 1877, p4:
CAPTAIN HENRY ALEXANDER, who died at Northfield, Mass., Sunday, at the age of eighty-six years and three months, retained his faculties almost to the end of his life, and was for very many years an influential citizen of the town, having been selectman in his prime. He was the father of President Alexander of the Second National Bank of Springfield, and was a member of one of the original families of the town, a descendant of George and John Alexander, members of the first settlement in 1673, and also partners in the partition of the town in 1683, when the settlers returned to the homes from which they had been driven during the Indian war. The family has ever since been prominent in the affairs of the town, figuring largely in the list of volunteers for every war. Colonel Medad, the father of Henry, was selectman for twenty-four years, representative to the Legislature for nine years, long a deputy sheriff, and figured extensively in county affairs.

+++++++++++

Funny, but I've had no success in finding out WHY he bears the rank of Captain.
