"Victor Lee Burgess, 82, of South Brookfield, died Saturday at the Bemis Nursing Home, Hubbardsville, after a long illness. He was born April 11, 1878, in Brookfield, son of Josiah and Nancy Walters Burgess. He married Ellen Sweet in 1901. She died in 1925. He was a retired dairy farmer. He attended the Baptist Church. Mr. Burgess leaves two sons, Ernest Burgess, West Edmeston RD, and Lynn Burgess, Cooperstown; 13 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The funeral was Monday from the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Alfred Jaquay, Pleasant St., Brookfield, with Rev. Leonard N. Davis, pastor of the Columbus Quarter Baptist Church, officiating.
