S1 US NAVY - WORLD WAR II

LINCOLN - Maurice R. Libby, 87, died April 11, 2014 in his hometown of Lincoln, Maine where he was born Sept 24, 1926, the son of Maurice E. and Fern (Rogers) Libby.


While proudly serving his country in World War II, he met and married his beloved wife of 55 years, Dorcas Price Libby. Maurice worked at the Lincoln paper mill for over 50 years starting as a pipefitter and working his way up to Senior Management. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed bird hunting especially with his son and grandsons.


Maurice is survived by his fiancée, Joyce Nolan, his daughter, Gail Tuffley, son, Brian Libby and wife, Mary-Beth, six grandchildren, Brian Tuffley and wife, Leah, Joe Tuffley and wife, Jill, Dan Tuffley and wife, Kim, Brad Libby and wife, Kristie, Kelly O'Brien and husband, Steve, Betheny Libby Proctor and husband, Travis; and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, Maurice is also survived by a brother, Earl Libby, and sisters-in-law, Emily Price and Elizabeth Steward and her husband, Frederick.


In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Dorcas Libby, son-in-law, Willard Tuffley, and sisters, Irene Crocker, Vivian Tunks and Nancy Batchelder. He will be greatly missed by many but remembered by all that were fortunate to know him.


Graveside services will be held later this spring at Lincoln Cemetery. (Bangor Daily News 4/14/2014)
