Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Born Dec. 17, 1916, in Seymour, Mo., Lois was the daughter of Rev. Caleb Bain and Nancy Bell (Huff) Maggard. On Jan. 18, 1936, in Pansy, Mo., she married Herman E. Fitzgerald. He preceded her in death Dec. 9, 1997.
Lois was an avid quilter and an excellent seamstress and cook. She had a "green thumb" and grew beautiful large gardens. Lois cherished and loved her family.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Bill Fitzgerald, Princeton, Iowa; Dorothy Kimmel, Bettendorf, Kenneth Fitzgerald, LeClaire, and Janice Anderson, Port Byron; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; her siblings, Jimmy Maggard, Willard, Mo., Gladys Huff and Francis Montgomery, both of Ozark, Mo., Medina Hall, Springfield, Mo., and Tinnie Williams of McPherson, Kan.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gerald Fitzgerald; grandsons; brothers, Roy, Arthur, Hiram, Glenn and Lincoln Maggard; brothers, David and Otto Maggard, in infancy; and sisters, Nora Stilings, Inice Laurens and Nina Mae Roberts.
The family gives their heartfelt thanks to the facility and staff at the Iowa Masonic Home for their compassionate care over the years.
